Around 200 pro-Palestine protesters at Yale University disbanded their encampment on Tuesday evening for fears of “retribution.”
The protesters had gathered on Beinecke Plaza to protest an upcoming talk by Israeli security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir set be held near Yale’s campus, according to Yale News.
What To Know
The crowd started forming at around 8.00 p.m. on Tuesday, and within an hour and a half they had erected a number of tents.
But just before 11.30 p.m., organizers announced that everyone should disperse over threats of “retribution” and encouraged students to rally again on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the university told Yale News: “The group’s activities violated Yale’s time, place, and manner policies. University officials clearly articulated Yale’s policies and the consequences of violating them.”
