President Donald Trump has responded to the shooting inside a Manhattan skyscraper on Monday that left four people and the gunman dead.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “I have been briefed on the tragic shooting that took place in Manhattan, a place that I know and love.” He added that he believed law enforcement could get to the bottom of what happened.
“My heart is with the families of the four people who were killed, including the NYPD Officer, who made the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless the New York Police Department, and God Bless New York!” the president continued.
The New York Police Department told Newsweek on Tuesday that the investigation was ongoing.

What To Know
Trump said on Truth Social that he had been briefed on the shooting and that he expected law enforcement agencies would find why this “crazed lunatic committed such a senseless act of violence.”
Authorities have named 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura, from Las Vegas, as the shooter.
The police said Tamura entered an office building at 345 Park Avenue, which houses the NFL headquarters and the offices of several major financial companies, around 6:30 p.m. on Monday and opened fire with an M4 rifle. In the lobby, the shooter killed three people.
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said he took an elevator up to Rudin Management’s office on the 33rd floor, where he continued firing rounds—killing a fourth person before turning the gun on himself.
The mass shooting, which took place in the hub for American finance, has stunned the city.
Among the four victims was Didarul Islam, 36, a New York Police Department officer who immigrated to the U.S. from Bangladesh. Tamura also killed Wesley LePatner, 43, a senior managing director at Blackstone who joined the firm in 2014 after a decade at Goldman Sachs, according to her profile on the company’s website.
The NFL said one of its employees was seriously injured.
Tamura had targeted the NFL but ended up on Rudin’s floor by mistake, according to senior law enforcement officers who said he had a fixation with chronic traumatic encephalopathy caused by head trauma.
Videos inside the office tower showed people huddled as they sought safety.
Trump posted his message on Truth Social while golfing in Scotland, where he opened a new course at an estate he owns. The president is expected to return to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.
