Recently revealed texts show that Elon Musk, who’s leading the Department of Government Efficiency [DOGE], is deeply worried about assassination attempts.
There have been a number of alleged threats against Musk’s life and property recently because of his close association with President Donald Trump and Musk’s promise to cut the federal budget by up to $2 trillion a year.
Newsweek sought email comment from Musk.

Online Threat
Indiana State Police said in a statement this month that 28-year-old David Allen June Cherry is facing one felony count of intimidation.
Newsweek sought email comment from Cherry’s attorney.
Cherry owns an online store called Red Pawn Dynamics, which sells Communist, anarchist and political themed merchandise.
He allegedly made threats over several months in posts that were replies to Musk’s social media comments.
According to prosecutors, Cherry is alleged to have commented on X, formerly Twitter, on December 6, 2024: “We’re gunning you down, Muskrat.”
On January 22 this year, in response to an X comment about Musk by right-wing commentator Andrew Tate, he reportedly said: “I’ve got enough bullets for his b**** ass and all the rest of you manchildren.”
On February 3, he’s said to have commented to Musk: “You’ve broken the law. You’re on the hit list.”
Moments later, he allegedly said: “You’re robbing the American people. We will gut you and parade your corpse through the streets.”
He then allegedly commented: “I am going to plant a bomb in Elon Musk’s house.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Cherry and has raised over $4,000 for his legal expenses and other costs.
The GoFundMe page states that Cherry was arrested on “bogus allegations on the morning of Feb 18, 2025.” “He did nothing more than voice an opinion on social media,” it states.
Cherry is currently awaiting a court date to plead to the charges.
Alleged Threat To Data Center
Tennessee man Ethan Paul Early, 25, was arrested for allegedly assembling explosives to blow up Musk’s artificial intelligence data story center.
Newsweek sought email comment from Early’s attorney.
Court records show that he was allegedly angered by Trump with Musk. He has been charged with an attempted act of terrorism.
Early had allegedly started buying materials to make thermite, a mix of aluminum powder and iron oxide that produces intense heat and could devastate a building.
He is being held in jail and has yet to plead to charge.
Exploding Tesla Truck
In January, a man killed himself by exploding a Tesla Cybertruck outside Donald Trump’s hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Although not a direct threat to Musk’s life, the attack was a violent statement against Trump and Musk.
The vehicle was parked near a glass entrance in the valet area in front of the hotel when it began to emit smoke and then exploded.
Fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel in the truck’s bed are believed to have been detonated using a device operated by the driver.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Matthew Livelsberger, died after the blast. Seven more suffered minor injuries.
What People Are Saying
At President Trump’s first cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Elon Musk told everyone assembled: “We are spending over a trillion dollars on interest. If this continues, the country will go de facto bankrupt. It is not an optional thing, it is an essential thing, and that’s the reason why I’m here and taking a lot of flak and getting a lot of death threats by the way.”
Musk’s concerns about a potential attack were recently revealed in a child paternity and custody case taken against him by conservative writer Ashley St. Clair.
St. Clair says she gave birth to Musk’s 13th child in 2024. Musk has not publicly commented on St. Clair’s claims.
In September 2024, it’s claimed Musk sent her texts to explain why he could not immediately come to see her and their newborn son:
“I get credible death threats. I’m #2 after Trump for assassination.”
“If I make a mistake on security, [censored] will never know his father.”
“Wake up. This is not the time for sentiment over safety.”
In the alleged exchange, St. Clair replied that she had not included Musk’s name in the birth certificate for security reasons and said the child carries her last name.
Final messages allegedly from Musk read: “Only the paranoid survive” and “loose lips sink ships.”
What Happens Next
David Cherry and Ethan Early will soon be called to court to plead guilty or not guilty to their respective charges. Both can expect heavy prison sentences if convicted.
